Packing light but smart is the key to a comfortable motorcycle tour. Wales throws everything at you — sunshine, rain, wind, and low cloud — sometimes all in the same afternoon.
1. A Quality Waterproof Layer
Non-negotiable. Even in summer, Wales will deliver at least one wet day. A lightweight packable waterproof jacket and trousers that fit over your riding gear will save your trip.
2. Heated Grips or Glove Liners
Mountain passes can be significantly colder than the valleys below. Cold hands make for tense, uncomfortable riding. Thermal glove liners make a huge difference.
3. A GPX Device or Phone Mount
Mobile signal is patchy across much of rural Wales. Download your routes offline before you set off. Our GPX files are ready to load directly into your sat nav.
4. Cash
Many of the best cafes and fuel stops in rural Wales are cash only. Keep a reasonable amount on you and you will never find yourself stuck.
5. A Camera
You will want to stop. A lot. Wales delivers photograph-worthy moments around every corner — do not rely solely on your phone.
